The project area has a special importance for the State of the Turkish Republic and the Turkish Nation. Atatürk’s love of nature, dense of woodland in the area where the building will settle, and the location of the existing greenhouse in the site are the main criteria that create the design.
Atatürk loves nature, his love was proven by different cases; moving a pavillion to prevent harming a single old tree, building the Atatürk Forest Farm, and naming as a victory of the flowers bloomed in the Çankaya Mansion.
The “Flower” theme comes to the fore because of Atatürk’s love of nature, and the flowers will be grown in the greenhouse. Each module consists of a 4 or 6 meter equilateral hexagon. In the hexagonal form, the rhododendron type flower’s morphology inspired by the greenhouse is reflected on the structural system, with the connections providing clear details. The architectural form is obtained by binding the modules in order to preserve the existing trees.
There are 6 main structural steel columns carrying each hexagonal module. Three of the arc-shaped ones from the module edges, the others from the middle of the module transfer the loads to the ground. The project consists of 8 steel modules where the greenhouse is located and 2 reinforced concrete modules where the administrative units are located.
